Pay Attention to Geographic Targeting in Your Campaigns

We ran a campaign with Google Ads and measured the return with Matomo Analytics. No platform is immune to errors, including Google Ads and Matomo Analytics. Both can display inaccurate data for various reasons. Let’s take a closer look at both platforms…

Google Ads does its best to display ads to the target audience based on the specific targeting settings you specify. However, there can be situations where the settings are not interpreted correctly, or system errors may occur. Some factors, such as the use of ad networks or the complexity of targeting algorithms, could contribute to a slight deviation from the intended parameters.

Matomo Analytics relies on various methodologies to determine user location, such as IP addresses. These methods can be influenced by various variables, and occasionally they can produce inaccurate results. Incorrect settings or suboptimal configurations in Matomo could lead to inaccurate data, including geolocation data.
It is important to recognize that no platform is perfect and that data accuracy can vary. When significant discrepancies occur, it is advisable to carefully examine the settings of both platforms, run tests, and if necessary, make corrections.
