According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China produced 47.3% more semiconductors in 2021 compared to 2020, for a total of over 203 billion chips. All necessary for sectors ranging from automotive industry to consumer electronics. Certainly no small feat, requiring an enormous amount of energy. To meet this energy demand, an additional production of 100 million tonnes was ordered from 72 coal mines. This answers very simply this question: does China care about supporting a more ecological industry? It is clear that a V-shaped economic rebound requires fueling production more than expected, but it is from these “details” that one understands the real intentions of a country/continent. Think about whether, once energy demand decreases, they will go back to consuming gas?
