How to Buy a PC with 128MB RAM for Less Than $1,000

With $1,000 you won’t be buying an exceptional system, but you’ll come close. Under the hood: either a Pentium III, an Athlon or, at least, a fast Celeron. Add a GeForce 256 graphics card capable of handling today’s most demanding 3D games, a generous amount of RAM (128 MB would be ideal) and enough hard drive space to store anything you can think of. A DVD or CD-RW drive, decent speakers with a separate subwoofer and a 17-inch monitor could be part of the mix.
